The number of flights to the resorts of Egypt allowed to increase
renderled__blockOn Monday, August 16, it became known that the Russian Federation will triple the number of regular flights to the Egyptian resorts of Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. The number of scheduled flights is increasing on a reciprocal basis to Egypt. More flights can be planned on the routes Moscow – Hurghada, Moscow – Sharm el-Sheikh from 5 to 15 flights per week on each route from Russian airports, from which international flights have been resumed. It is not yet clear if this will have a positive impact on the work of tour operators who interact with Egypt.
Recently, experts have seen more positive news related to Egypt. Also in the African country itself, they are confident that the next winter season in Egypt will be very good in terms of the tourist flow. This is especially noticeable after the restoration of the Karnak Temple and the Rams Road, which, according to the head of the Committee for the Development of Cultural Tourism in Luxor, is one of the most important antiquities of Upper Egypt. Earlier, the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled El-Anani announced that by the end of the year Egypt will reopen the 2700-meter Alley of the Sphinxes – the road connecting the Karnak and Luxor temples.
The coming period will see the return of such tourists who visit Upper Egypt in winter, mainly Spanish and Portuguese, noting that occupancy rates are very good. Notably, in early August, Luxor received its first charter flights from Spain since the resumption of tourism in July 2020. International flights at all Egyptian airports across the country were suspended on March 19, 2020 as part of the government's efforts to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Inbound flights only resumed on 1 July 2020 to three governorates in the first phase, namely the Red Sea, South Sinai and Matruh governorates. Tourism activity in Luxor and Aswan resumed in early September.
Spain is one of the most important sources of tourist traffic to Egypt. The Spanish tourist is a lover of the ancient Egyptian civilization.
